Obsidian Lab sorted out our google ads and SEO after we’d wasted months with another agency that just set and forgot it. He’s straight with you, explains exactly what he’s doing and treats the budget like it’s his own. Best marketing decision we’ve made for our business!

Answers to common questions about our Google Ads management service.
-
Our Google Ads management starts from A$1,100 a month (ex GST) for accounts spending up to about A$3,000 a month. Larger or more complex accounts are quoted after the free audit. The fee is flat and agreed in writing before work starts, never a percentage of your ad spend, and your ad spend is paid separately and directly to Google.
-
You pay Google for clicks, and what a click costs depends on your industry, your location and how many businesses compete for the same searches. Most accounts we manage start from A$1,000 a month in ad spend, paid directly to Google, with management as a separate flat fee from A$1,100 a month. The free audit shows whether that budget makes sense for your market.
-
A$10 to A$20 a day works out at roughly A$300 to A$600 a month, well below the A$1,000 a month most accounts start from. In competitive service markets that may only buy a few clicks a day, which is too little data to learn what works. It can suit a small local test, and the free audit will tell you honestly whether it is enough for your market.
-
Ads can start showing the day a campaign goes live, and wasted spend usually shows up in the first week. Lead volume and quality take 4 to 8 weeks of data before scaling decisions are reliable, depending on your market and budget.
-
Usually it comes down to a few things: ads showing for searches without buying intent, messages that attract the wrong people, a landing page that does not match the ad or make it easy to get in touch, or calls and forms that are not being tracked at all. We check search terms, targeting, ads, the landing page and conversion tracking, then fix what we find so you can see which changes bring genuine enquiries.
-
You can run Google Ads yourself if you have time to learn the platform, set up conversion tracking properly and review search terms every week. Self-managed accounts usually lose money in the gaps: broad keywords, untracked calls and budgets nobody reviews. Outside help is worth it when the time saved and the waste removed outweigh the fee, and the free audit shows where your account stands either way.
-
A consultant gives you one senior person who does the work. An agency gives you a team and process. Obsidian Lab is founder-led: Ryan Deakin runs your account directly, with agency-level tracking and reporting behind it. You get the person you spoke to, not a junior account manager.
-
It depends on how soon you need enquiries. Google Ads can bring enquiries soon after launch while SEO builds over months, so many service businesses start with Google Ads to generate leads and learn which searches convert, then use that data to guide SEO. If your budget is tight or few competitors advertise in your market, SEO may come first. We do both and recommend the order that fits your situation.
-
If you are running Google Ads, we review your account, search terms and conversion tracking, then walk you through where spend is being wasted and the first three things we'd fix. If you are not advertising yet, we look at your goals, search demand in your market and a sensible starting approach. You keep the findings whether you work with us or not.
